Betty Louise Walthes

Betty Louise Walthes, 76, of Lamar, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

Betty was born in Parker County, Texas, to Juanita (Packwood) and Ervin Smith. She spent her early years in Texas before making Barton County, Missouri, her home in 1988.

A kindhearted and gentle soul, Betty had a deep love for animals, especially cats, and she delighted in caring for and spoiling many of them throughout her life. She was also a devoted fan of Elvis Presley and rarely missed a Dallas Cowboys football game. True to her nature, Betty lived a quiet, private life, preferring the comfort of home over crowds, where she could enjoy the things she loved most.

She is survived by her sisters, Margarit Sanders of Oklahoma and Debbie Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas, as well as her best friend, Janet Sitton, who remained a steadfast companion. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Shirley Knepe, Nancy Turney, Doyle Smith, Gene Smith, and Donnie Smith.

Betty will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her loyalty to those she loved, and the simple joys that brought her happiness.
