Charles T. Burr

Charles T. Burr, 76, a much-loved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on October 16, 2025.

Born in Coffeyville, Kansas, to June (Owens) and Dewayne “Duey” Burr, Charles lived there until age 15 before moving with his family to Lamar, Missouri. He graduated from Lamar High School with the Class of 1968 and soon began a lifelong career marked by dedication and craftsmanship.

Charles married the love of his life, Patricia, on July 13, 1973, at Bluff Chapel. Together they built a home filled with laughter, curiosity, and love. He worked for O’Sullivan Industries from 1968 to 1999 as a computer programmer, and later at Thorco as a jig maker until his retirement in 2012. Retirement suited him well—it gave him the time he treasured most: being with his grandchildren.

Charles was a hands-on grandpa, happiest when he was sharing small adventures—riding motorcycles to the store for bug juice and candy, fishing, or running pigeon shows. He enjoyed raising birds and loved a good swap meet, auction, or flea market, where one never knew if the day’s prize would be a wooden duck or a new pet.

A lifelong fan of horror, science fiction, and westerns, Charles could often be found watching Dark Shadows, Star Wars, Star Trek, Zorro, The Lone Ranger, Gunsmoke, or MASH.* His collection of action figures reflected his playful spirit, featuring everything from R2-D2 to a large Godzilla.

Charles was also known for his mischievous sense of humor. A master of harmless pranks, he was famous for sneaking bits of trash into purses while waiting in line and pretending innocence when his joke was discovered. His laughter—and the laughter he inspired in others—will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Burr; his children Charlotte (Greg) Richards of Springfield, MO, Chris (Amanda) Burr of Lamar, MO, and Crystal Davis of Lamar, MO; his grandchildren Corina (Donald) Brown of Springfield, MO, Hailey (Joshua) Short of Lamar, MO, Breanna (Andrew) Brawner of Springfield, MO, Desirae (Justin) Burr of Lamar, MO, Jayden (Tristyn) Richards of Willard, MO, Zackary Davis of North Carolina, and Kellie Wilson of Lamar, MO; and great-grandchildren Alexia, Hayden, Obree, Briggs, Bentley, and two more expected in 2026.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Charles will be remembered for his quick wit, generous heart, and the countless joyful memories he created for his family and friends.

The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Konantz Warden Funeral Home in Lamar, Missouri. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Lamar.
