Debra Jean Hampton

Debra Jean Hampton, fondly known as Debbie, passed away on July 16, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Born on November 16, 1952, in Lamar, Missouri, she was a vibrant soul whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Debbie was a proud graduate of Lamar High School. She married Rick Hampton on July 26, 1998, creating a bond that was cherished by many. Her adventurous spirit was evident in her love for road trips to Texas, a journey she often made with family by her side. These moments were filled with laughter, joy, and memorable experiences that her loved ones will carry in their hearts forever.

A passionate reader, Debbie found solace in the pages of books and had an avid interest in watching murder mysteries. Nothing brought her more happiness than enjoying her yard, which she admired with great pride, and hosting Halloween parties designed to elicit playful screams from the little children in her life. Known affectionately as a "crazy cat lady," she embraced her independent spirit. She was never afraid to speak her mind and remained bold in her convictions, often worrying more about others than herself.

Debbie's family was her greatest joy and source of pride. She is survived by her two sons, Brian (Jenni) Duncan and Kelly Duncan, along with her cherished granddaughters Mykela Timmons and Kally Duncan, grandsons Cody Hughes, Seth Duncan, Lane Duncan, and Wylee Duncan, and five great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love and family values will undoubtedly live on through them.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Rick Hampton, her father Clarence Mason, and her mother Shirley Johnson. Debbie's memories of family gatherings and pumpkin cake baking will be lovingly remembered by her siblings: Mike (Patty) Frickenschmidt, Penny Frickenschmidt, and Alan (Coleen) Frickenschmidt.

Debbie leaves behind a lasting impact on the hearts of her family and friends, whose lives she touched with her unwavering love and strong spirit. Her memory will forever echo in the stories shared and the traditions carried forth by those she loved dearly.

A visitation will be held on Monday July 21, 2025 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Full Gospel Tabernacle Fellowship Hall at 1601 Hagney, Lamar, MO.
