Kevin Andrew Clayton

From his birth in Fairfield, California, on June 20th, 1970, to his passing here in Lamar, Missouri, on August 5th, 2026, Kevin filled the fifty-six years in between with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. His journey took him from childhood days growing up in Gridley, to the desert heat of the Palm Springs area for junior high, where he spent decades before moving to Oregon in 2020, and finally settling here in Lamar in 2021.

Kevin was never one to sit still for long. He lived with an adventurous spirit and loved the freedom of the open road, driving, and embarking on long road trips to see what was over the next horizon. Whether he was listening to music with the windows down, camping under the stars, casting a line while fishing, or sitting on a beach listening to the waves, Kevin found joy in simple pleasures and was happiest when he was out in nature.

Those who knew him well knew about his unique passions—like his dedicated love for collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, his fascination with big cats, or his love for a good, competitive card game around the table.

But far beyond his hobbies, what defined Kevin was his heart. He was a genuinely kind, loving, and caring soul to everyone around him. Kevin was a total character; he constantly cracked jokes, ensured laughter filled the room, and brought infectious energy to every conversation. There was truly never a single silent moment when Kevin was around, and he had a rare gift for lifting the spirits of everyone in his presence.

Above all else, Kevin loved his family to the core. Family was his absolute priority, the single most important thing in his life, and he loved each of you with everything he had.

Today, we grieve alongside his family: his mother, Connie Clayton; his daughter, Shawna DeShazo; his grandson, Skyler; his sister, Kim Carnahan; his brother, Curtis Clayton; his niece, Victoria; his nephew, Shane; and his wife and dear friend, Brandy.

While our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that Kevin has been reunited with those who went before him: his father, Victory Clayton, and his brother-in-law, Randy Carnahan.

Kevin, thank you for the laughter, the love, and the beautiful, chaotic, joyful moments you gave us. Your laughter remains in our hearts. You taught us to love fiercely, to laugh loudly, and to cherish every single family gathering. We love you, we miss you, and your spirit will stay with us on every road trip and in every quiet moment.

A memorial service will be held at Living Word Church of Lamar, MO on Friday August 7, 2026 at 10:00 AM.

Kevin Andrew Clayton, 56, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, in Lamar, Missouri, surrounded by his loving family.

Kevin was born on June 20, 1970, in Fairfield, California, to Connie and Victory Clayton. He was raised in Palm Springs, California, where he graduated from Palm Springs High School with the Class of 1988.

Kevin met Brandy Sens and they became a couple in 2014 and married on March 20, 2016. They made their home in California's High Desert for several years until they moved to Oregon in 2020. In 2021, Kevin moved to Lamar, Missouri, to be near family and stayed due to declining health.

Kevin had a true love for the open road. He enjoyed driving, taking adventures, and exploring wherever the journey led him. His passion for driving became his career, and he especially enjoyed working as an Uber driver, where he had the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and share a smile or a laugh along the way.

An animal lover through and through, Kevin had a special place in his heart for cats, dogs, and horses. He found great joy in volunteering at a horse rescue, where he could spend time caring for the animals he loved.

Those who knew Kevin will always remember his wonderful sense of humor and his playful spirit. He was unapologetically himself—full of comedy, love, and goofiness. He had a remarkable ability to make people laugh, brighten a room, and remind others not to take life too seriously. His genuine heart and unique personality made him a truly special man who will never be forgotten.

Kevin also enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola bottles and had an incredible appreciation for music. His taste was as diverse as his personality, spanning many genres. Some of his favorite artists included Linkin Park, Slipknot, The Prodigy, Nickelback, Dr. Demento, Enigma, Creed, Eagles, along with many country artists. No matter the genre, music was a constant companion throughout his life.

Above all else, Kevin dearly loved his family. They were the center of his world, and the moments he shared with them were among his greatest treasures. His love, laughter, kindness, and unforgettable personality will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

Kevin is survived by his loving family and many friends who will cherish his memory forever.

A celebration of Kevin's life will be held on Friday August 7, 2026, at Living Word Church of Lamar, MO
